Purpose
RiverGardenHome was created to address a gap in English-language aquarium content that accounts for local variables: water chemistry in Polish cities, product availability through domestic suppliers, and the seasonal temperature patterns that affect unheated or lightly heated tanks.
Content on this site is written to an informational standard — describing known parameters, documented species behaviour, and practical techniques without making claims that cannot be verified against established aquarium biology literature.
Content Scope
The site covers three primary topic areas:
- Freshwater aquarium setup — tank selection, substrate, filtration, lighting, water treatment, and the nitrogen cycle
- Aquatic plant cultivation — species selection, growth requirements, and placement strategies for planted freshwater tanks
- Freshwater fish care — species-specific parameter requirements, compatibility, feeding, and daily maintenance
Saltwater, brackish, and pond setups are outside the scope of current content.
Information Standards
Parameter ranges and species data are cross-referenced against publicly accessible scientific and hobbyist databases, including FishBase and the Tropica plant database. Generalised claims without verifiable sources are avoided. Where information is uncertain or varies significantly between sources, the text reflects that uncertainty rather than stating a single value as definitive.

Disclaimer
Content published on RiverGardenHome is for informational purposes only. Individual aquarium outcomes depend on variables — water source quality, tank construction, specific species combinations, feeding habits — that cannot be fully accounted for by any general guide. Aquarists should treat information on this site as a starting point and adapt it to the specific conditions of their setup.
